The way to counter that is to play much looser during the pre-flop betting for the first few levels and hope to catch a monster on the flop. The idea is not to bet more aggressively – unless you hold a top ten opening hand, you should still try to get to the flop as cheaply as possible – but with a high percentage of your opponents playing the same game as you, the pot will normally be worth winning if your marginal hands collect.
