Rush Poker Tournament Strategy

Since rush poker hit the online poker world players have been coming up with strategies to beat the game. Then rush poker tournaments hit the scene and there has been a debate over players ability to take notes or not and how that will impact the outcome of a rush poker tournament. In this rush poker tournament strategy article we will cover pre-flop and post flop play as well as early, mid, and late stages of the tournament.

Pre-flop Strategy

Every poker player has their own hand range and which positions to play then in so we will not cover that in this article. The focus is betting. As most poker players will raise 3 or 4 times the big blind pre-flop. You don’t want to do that in a rush poker tournament. You should do the minimum raise to reduce the amount of chips lost if you don’t hit your card on the flop.

Also you should be stealing the blinds whenever, nobody raise before you while you are on the button, in the cutoff position, small blind, and depending on your hand middle position. This allows you to build up your chip stack as the blinds get bigger. You should be able to steal 4 out of 5 blinds without anyone challenging you.

Post Flop Strategy

Post flop will give you the big chip boosts you need to stay above the chip stack average. Following the pre-flop raise you want to c-bet 60% to 75% of the pot. Most players will fold their hand. This allows you to steal the pot. However, there are times you want to slow play your hand when you have a flush or full house on the flop then you should bet 75% of the pot on the turn. Most players will fold here but there are a lot of players that still want to see the river. You bet on the river they will fold this is why you need to pull the value from them on the turn.

Early Stage Strategy

In early stages of the rush poker tournament you want your playing style to be completely tight aggressive. So many players are far too loose aggressive at the early stages you don’t want to get caught up in it right along with them because you will lose too many chips. You also want to steal the blinds when you can to build up a chip stack solid enough to be average or a little above average. This allows you to be in a good position against your opponents during the mid stage.

Mid Stage Strategy

In the mid stages is when you need to be a mix of both tight aggressive as well as loose aggressive. All the tight aggressive players only playing premium cards and not stealing blinds will be short stacking now. This is when you should be focus on stealing the blinds and antes as much as you can as well as stealing pots from bluffers.

Important Tip: You should be taking notes on players while you in a hand against them. This will come in handy during the late stages of the tournament. Knowing who you are dealing with during the late stages of the tournament will make the difference between making the final table or falling short.

Late Stage Strategy

In the late stages of the rush poker tournament is the time you should be noticing which players are just trying to finish the tournament in a higher position and the players that are trying to win the tournament. Those that are trying to win the tournament are going to be holding solid cards while those that are just trying to finish a little bit higher are more likely to fold to your raises. Also, during the late stages it is much easier to steal the blinds and antes because of these type of players.
